Recordati to co-market moxifloxacine, an important antibacterial drug, with Bayer
Milan, 24 October 2002
Recordati announced that it has signed a co-marketing agreement with Bayer AG for the marketing and sale in Italy of Octegra® (moxifloxacine), an anti-bacterial fluorquinolone, already marketed in Italy, indicated for the treatment of respiratory infections.
Moxifloxacine, discovered and developed by Bayer AG, is a last generation drug in its class, which is well known and established, and which recorded sales of approximately Euro 145 million in the last 12 months in Italy. There, moxifloxacine's patent protection runs until 2014.
Recordati will re-launch Octegra® in the next two months.
"The agreement with Bayer is part of our product and license acquisition plan for Italy, France and Spain, where we are present with our own sales organizations" declared Giovanni Recordati, Chairman and CEO. "The re-launch of Octegra® will follow those of Peptazol® (pantoprazole) and Lercadip® (lercanidipine) which took place at the beginning of 2002 with excellent results".
